Of this dilemma??

One of my mates (19 yo) went out with his flatmates on a bender (being students can get away with that mid week), anyway one of them had his kid sister in tow, 17 years old, etc.

Can you guess where I going with this one yet??

All had been out drinking but not enough to blame anything on alcohol, said mate then pulled (from what I read from txt she pulled him) and flatmate (brother) was non the wiser, they all get on the bus home and the alcohol hits his flatmate (brother) quite hard so he goes off to find food and get some sleep.

my mate thought fantastic as did she..........

But as the txt this morning states 'After 10mins he worked out something was going on and is far from pleased. Got some explaining to do'

He's asking for help, but other than 'I warned you' and 'you made your bed now lie in it' which aren't helpful to his cause, can you lot come up with some words of advice?

The floor is now open to all smutty comments and help you can think of.

The flatmate (brother) and your mate. Are they friends, or have they just met?

If they are not best mates or anything, then no, there isn't a problem. The lil sister is perfectly old enough to look after herself.

The brother seems to be a little over-protective on this one, TBH. Depends if your mate wanted a quick shafter, or was being slightly more genuine. More info please.

Is this girl not allowed to make her own decisions?

As long as she was ok with it all - then her brother is just being a tosser. IMO of course.

Alcohol's great isn't it! I like binge drinking and then going around stabbing people. And those camera phones are useful too.

As Frik said. If the girl was up for it and they are bot adults, then I can't see any problem. The flat mate wouldn't be bothered if it wasn't his sister. He should chill out and see it from their position. Or maybe not!

Seriously, he should talk to the guy and explain that he still respects the girl and it was a mutual attraction thing. Maybe the flatmate will calm down after a year or two!

They are friends and going to be flatmates next year.

They were all joking about it in the pub a few weeks back and he (the brother) was none to pleased then, now that my mate has gone and done it.........

Up shit creek without a paddle!! springs to mind

At 19, a 17 year old sister is hardly a "kid" sister (I know that's not what was meant but it illustrates the point).

What your mate and the sister do has nothing to do with the brother so long as the sister is happy/not getting hurt etc.

Me? I'd tell said flatmate to get fd - she wanted a Phil token and she got one.

I wonder if the blokes that have responded on this thread have younger sisters or not (or daughters).

I have, and probably would have been mighty pissed off in this situation - unless the 'friend' had good intentions.
I agree that it's not really the brothers business, but c'mon, you really wouldn't be bothered if it was your sister?

I have a younger sister, whom I love to bits. I'm still with the 'she can make her own decisions' crowd.

That said, I had once arranged to pick her up from this chap's house (uni friend of hers) before going to a party. I got to this chap's house, he answered the door, went white as a sheet, legged it and locked himself in the loo; wouldn't come out. She sauntered out, jumped in the car and off we went.

Years later she told me that he had tried it on with her, at which point she told him that I was not only overprotective, but 'dangerously violent', and that it was only a matter of time before I found out where she was and came for her (he didn't know I had arranged to pick her up anyway).

I was a little cross about this. And about this chap - I mean what a pussy

That was my thoughts, that and the added bonus of since his last breakup (several months ago), the main critrea on his list is female and a heartbeat...

Also what plays on his mind, well it would mine, is that he goes through women like a hot knife through butter.

Coming from an all male family (save my mother) I'm not too qualified to comment, but my 2 pence.

Both consenting adults, but if he values the brother's friendship then he'll have a word with him and express his full intentions and try and settle it out. Maybe the winding up wan't a good idea, but generally sister's are out of bounds, just for friendship reasons.

Yes, I have a younger sister. She's old enough to make her own mistakes.

I've bonked many mates' sisters. Never been a problem.

Of course, I have never treated any of them badly either...

I think this is the point. So long as he wasn't confessing undying love and 'using' her, mate should calm down and get a grip on the fact that his little sis ain't so little anymore...

So long as they were both playing by the same rules who cares - hey better a mate you know than some druggie chav oik you don't.

I'd have to agree with the general tone of this thread so far. I have a younger sister and she is old enough to make decisions for herself. Of course if anything goes wrong I'll always be there for her but on the whole she is capable of sound judgements and should be left to do so.

On the mates front, if I were in the same situation I have enough confidence in my friends to do the right thing if this sort of situation arose with my sis - after all they wouldn't be my mates if they were ters.

I trust her judgement and I know my mates - simple as that.
