GTI MK5 DSG SUSPECTED THERMOSTAT PROBLEM
Discussion
Hey guys I've had a thermostat changed not so long ago as the car temp gauge use to fluctuate. Now the temp gauge stays in one place and creeps down from time to time very less likely tho. But now it takes time for it to reach in the middle of around 30 mins of driving and it will just about get near the middle. I've heard theres a few thermostats in the car now which one will I have to go for as I can't find what it's called. The one thats changed atm is the small one with springs around it.
This dedicated site suggests that even VW can't answer that one!

"Some manuals have 2, some have 1. It seems VW can't even tell with VIN numbers.
If you can't find a second one above the gearbox (under the chain cover), then you have just the one. Cars with just 1 have a radiator outlet temp sensor there instead."
