so i know exactly 0 about games consoles.

8 yr old has a chromebook and shes started playing games which i dont love.

figuring if shes doing that then should get one where she has to do physical movement.

last time i looked umpteen years ago it was the wii fit that was good for that sort of thing

is it still around - if not whats cheap and not a ridiculous overblown console that will get her exercising to games?

yes im old

thanks!

You can get a Wii and Wii fit board + games etc pretty cheaply secondhand. Would be fine for an 8 year old

Eg here is a Wii U (which is backward compatible with all Wii stuff I believe) for £125

https://www.avforums.com/threads/nintendo-wii-u-co...

You can look at ads on that site or put a wanted ad etc

Edit that may be pricey apparently you can get Wii for about 20 quid from cash converters etc so that might be your best bet.

Oooh that’s a good idea re cash converters - what’s the modern version of the wii the switch?

Yeah but switch and games are pretty pricey. We have one it’s good, but we had (still have a Wii too, but can be bothered to sell it as they’re worth so little) and it’s pretty good as you can buy quite a few decent games pretty cheaply.

Bought my 8 year old a Wii, Wii fit board, loads of games and controllers from Ebay for Xmas. Cost me less than 50 quid and all in original packaging. There are loads out there and she's not stopped playing it! Loves Yoga and using the Balance Board on Wii Fit and we've had great fun on Mario Kart.

sounds good - so there is no direct replacement for the wii fit just the switch which is a full on console?

thanks

Should be available from CEX and they give 12 months guarantee on all used equipment

We bought a Wii bundle from CEX dirt cheap for the boy. Apart from a few of the first party games (such as Mario) everything is pretty reasonably priced now.

There’ll be loads in lofts around the country. Ours had one and the wii is sat unused since the arrival of the switch.

You'd be better off getting her an Xbox 360 with Kinect and then something like Just Dance 3:

You can get Just Dance on the original Wii. Got 2 games for the daughter with the Wii I bought (Just Dance 3 and Just Dance 2015). They had copies of both in CEX before Xmas for just 1.50 each also.

No need for a controller to throw at the screen!

If you are ever in Kent I have a wii balance board and wii fit game you can have. Never gets used here.

I'm sure I have other wii fit games around too.
