We have a surround system in our lounge and Mrs SLR has decided she does not like the speakers.
It was connected to my PS4 via optical cable and we used the PS4 for Netflix etc.
So its surplus to requirements... perfect for my gaming PC.. or so I thought.

The PC has a 1070ti. The amplifier only has optical in for audio input.

Anyone else managed to get audio out of their Nvidia card to optical format?

Cheers

Ahhhh I bet you are right, I thought it was strange the gfx card had no audio outputs at all.

I will have a look. If it does, will it just be PnP or will I need to fiddle with the settings?

That's what I was assuming when I came up with this cunning plan but it doesn't its just a bluray player with surround amp with aux audio in which is in the form of optical only.

Why not get a sound card with an optical output? The Asus Xonar SE is around £40 and has a S/PDIF connection.

Alternatively, there are loads of external USB sound cards with optical outputs:

Success! The mobo optical out worked a treat, no special setting up or messing about just plug and play.
