BP Ultimate Pumps , new handles

Heres a new one. Went to a BP station today to fill up with Ultimate 97 and they have modified the handles. All the ultimate pumps now have a big metal hoop on the top. Looks funky but guess what ? It prevents the nozzle from being inserted into the fuel filler on my chim as the hoop hits the bootlid. Grrrrrr. Managed to get a little bit of the filler in (about an inch) then had to trickle fuel in.

Anyone else noticed this ? Might be a new design as I havent seen it at other BP stations yet. Ive emailed BP to find out if this is going to be installed everywhere....

Time to switch to Shell Optimax I think

I have spoken to the Ultimate Brand team who have informed me that they have two stores trialling a new Ultimate Nozzle that has been used in Germany for some time now. Your comments are important to us, and this
is the type of feedback we had hoped we would receive, from BP Ultimate customers who may be affected by these changes.

The sites that are currently running this trial are Benson Connect and Childs Way Connect in Milton Keynes, so your local store will be unaffected for the foreseeable future.

Once again thank you for your comments which the Ultimate Team will now consider as a part of the customer trial.

Would have been nice if they had told you a bit about the new design, and the benefits it might offer.

Well from my close inspection of the nozzle , and attempt to get physical with it and rip off the offending metal bit I think I can be safe in saying its purely cosmetic - something to differentiate the Ultimate from the normal I guess. Why they cant just use a different colour is beyond me. And no, the physical abuse of the pump did not result in removal of offending metal hoop. I now have my junior hacksaw tucked away in a cubby for these kind of emergencies ;-)
