Unmarked grey vehicles - M11

Heading southbound on the M11 around midday today. At the Stansted junction, it opens up into 3 lanes and as there wasn't much traffic I admit to putting my foot down, may have been around 20-30mph over the prescribed limit. Not big or clever but we've probably all been there given a clear stretch of road in good conditions.

Saw some blue lights in the mirror, thought I may have been caught bang to rights so slowed up by taking my foot off the accelerator - was in the inside lane at the time.

The blue lights caught up with me amazingly quickly, they were in the third lane, the lead car was an unmarked small Merc and the two behind (also with hidden blue lights), were small vans - Peugeot Partner size - like the BT vans in the 80's.

All liveried in the same dull grey colour, but proceeding at one hell of a rate of knots towards London. I would estimate by their closing and passing speed, they must have been travelling at around 120mph+.

None of my business I admit, but can't help wondering who they were any what they might have been responding to. Seen loads of unmarked cars before but not with that flat grey paint job.

Last time I saw a convoy of drab grey motors with blues, I searched around and found out it was ground crew for the royals' helicopter.

Sounds like CT SFO to me if its grey vans (specialist counter terrorism firearms officers)
