Would this work as a back up solution?
Discussion
I currently have several different back ups, namely an external hard drive, Microsoft One Drive and another PC in the garage on the network backing itself up nightly with 2 Bright Sparks software, so I'm relatively happy with my system.
However I want to get rid of this other PC in exchange for another external hard drive but, as it's in another location a good distance away, a USB cable wouldn't be an option. As I already have a network cable running to said location, I was thinking of a very basic NAS solution, something like a Verbatim NAS Hard Drive Enclosure which is available on the bay of dreams for around £20. I already have a spare hard drive so would it be a case of just fitting it, plugging the CAT5 cable in and setting a schedule for backing up?
Please let me know if I'm missing something obvious here but this does seem to be a logical solution to me and would enable me to create a bit of space by getting rid of an old PC running a now obsolete Windows 7.
