Opinion about faulty M4
Discussion
Hi there I wonder if I could ask an opinion as to whether to keep car or exchange it? I recently bought a 2015 M4 convertible with 19k on the clock. From a main dealer. Fully loaded. 1 year approved bmw warranty.
Within a couple days there was a burning smell in the car. Back to dealer. Diagnosed rocker cover fault and burning wire near it.. No car for about a week as it was the festive period.
Back to me. Drove it for a couple of days. Warning lights on telling me there was a Drive train problem. Back to dealer. Diagnosed that the pin on the earth connector for one of the coil packs was ‘backed off’. Have been quite vague if related to work initially carried out but on balance said was unrelated.
I have had the car for about 2 weeks and very unhappy that caused me issues already. Feel that I will have no choice but to take out extended warranty after 1 year.
I have the option of handing the car back under the 2015 consumer rights act (well within the 30 days, pre existing fault etc) and I would probably just get another M4 but have kind of lost faith in this particular one which could be a random lemon.
All advice and thoughts very welcome. Thanks in advance guys.

Just to be clear guys - I guess I am wondering if it would be sensible / realistic to ask BMW to extend their warranty given my loss of faith in the car so far and hassle caused, whether there’s some other options that I could ask of them.....or if I should just chuck the car in exchange for a different (I.e. slightly newer, lower mileage) M4 instead....
The cars warning about the drivetrain went on again yesterday after having had it repaired. Not a totally bad thing... kinda made up my mind for me. Been on the phone to BMW UK about how to proceed and also their financial department. Both have been very good and totally cool with the rejection. Now wondering.... go for another M4 probs hardtop or a C63 AMG instead??
