Rug Doctor and boat canopies
Discussion
I wouldn't.
Very mild detergent only and a soft brush is the normal way of things especially if you have any vinyl windows in it. Light pressure wash at a pinch but be prepared to re waterproof straight after.
Always done in place and dried out naturally in situ which saves you the problem of kicking and punching a crispy dry, shrunken and mishaped cover into place at a later date.
If you do attempt the rug doctor against the advice make sure it gets a proper rewaterproof afterwards or it will just collect the dirt at a ridiculous rate and you will be back where you started or worse in no time.

Thanks Mr M. He will be disappointed!
It's not possible to reach all the canopy in place so in the past we've draped it over a handy rail to give it a good pressure washing. I've used Renovo to re-waterproof (painted on with a brush) which is tedious to apply but seems to work. The vinyl windows are also pretty mucky - suggestions?

Fabsil or similar in a spray bottle is a much easier way to waterproof but again keep it away from the vinyl windows.
If the windows are scratched then something like boatsheen or renovo will help but if the plasticiser in the vinyl has broken down then realistically replacement is the way to go. You might be pleasantly surprised how cheap a replacement window panel can be done for.

I’ve not heard if it being done before but it would save a lot of time. I’d still reproof with Fabsil Gold though.
The biggest issue I have is the green algae. It usually comes back quite quickly after a wash so this year I’ll be trying patio magic on it. I’ve heard it works really well without damaging the canvas. First attempt will be on a test patch just in case.
