Escape Rooms - Thoughts?

Been 'nvolved' in two of these things, one in the City with a company I was working for. Set in a bank vault, where we managed to get all the clues and got it done in the hour.
Another one in Hornchurch (dragged along by niece & nephew) which had something to do with 50s Sci-Fi if I remember rightly. Got all the clues and did it in good time.
My wife did a different City one last week and all her bank colleagues were awful and were nowhere near getting it finished in the hour.
Each time I've done it, I've felt like an absolute spare-part, unable to help in any real way at all.
Taking no sense of achievement in the two teams I've been on.
My mind doesn't really work in that clue-solving/riddle way. Either that or I'm just really stupid.
Any others who have participated in this 'pastime' feel the same? Have you done them and actively seek out more like my niece?

Went to my first one last year with a group from work. I'd only been there a month or so and didn't know many of them.
I actually had quite a bit of fun and got on well with the others. I think most of us contributed something throughout. We were one step away from getting out in time, which was frustrating but fine!
I'd do another one if it was proposed.

I did one a few month back with work.... Everyone was pissed and just wanted to get out so they could have more booze.
One guy did not but fart, in a 10ft square air tight room, lovely!
3 of the group rang reception from the panic phone so they could get to the bar.
Once they'd gone the rest of us managed it, just!
Most of the participants didn't want to be there, but with a group who actually wanted to do it, it could be quite fun.

Did one last year, i like the idea of solving puzzles etc but there were 6 of us from work and it was spoiled imo by a couple of people, one who was a bull in a china shop, as soon as a clue had the word 'light' he would insist the lights were turned off and when that didn't work he would say, there must be a torch / lighthouse / lamp or if he heard 'tree' as in family tree, he would shout "look for a plant or a tree"!
The other one was a woman who was an elevenerife type who tried to tell people what to do and insisted that it was her who got every clue right
If you like the puzzle element and have a good group of people i imagine it can be quite fun..

Escape room with colleagues, nope - rather not.
With the kids and wife, brilliant fun. Worked well in taking a back seat and letting the kids work out the answers and solutions. We completed it, just but it was a great way to spend a day in the Xmas holidays.
There’s definitely a skill to be honed, will be booking again soon.
It’s a pretty good type of business to support too, unlikely to generate enormous profits but a good way of utilising empty retail locations.

Did one in Manchester with the girlfriend a few years ago, really enjoyed it and we managed to escape in the hour.
Did one in Melbourne with her a year later that was much harder, I am very competitive so felt under pressure the whole hour and we didn't manage to escape. Apparently I took control, would not share nicely and we had the mother of all arguments that weekend.
Never again.
