Windows 7 and Outlook express
Discussion
I think i may be in it up to my neck!
As i am 99% of the time on my laptop, the PC has not been used for ages
I am having probs on my laptop with Email client ( it is wiping everything over two weeks old off the inbox!)
I need to get so attachments printed and fired up the PC. Big warning screen telling all about support no more, I think i need a CPU upgrade as when i went for the freebie upgrade two weeks ago it told me my cpu couldn't handle or didn't have a necessary item ( and i have forgottern what it was!)
Tonight i opened up Outlool Express and selected my email adress to download all the stuff tthat i need to print hat isn't on my laptop
selected the xxx@btinternet.com and a box popped up that said
Internet E-mail- xxx@btinternet.com
Enter my username and password this is already filled in
BUT the server showing mail.btinternet.com is greyed out
I retyped pw but nothing
I have admin on Win 7 is there anyway of restting the px or is the fact the server is greyed out a problem?
If i cannot do it from here could a local PC expert recover anything? Or is that it?
If it is possible for me to do it step by step instructions would help, as you all know i am a bit of a computer thickhead
TIA

can you login to webmail for mail.btinternet.com? If you can do this your password is correct
Are all your emails on there?
This might be the simplest way to sort access to old stuff.
Otherwise try the BT forums for advice they will probably know more. A quick check online shows a common problem with BT that resolves itself may take a few days. You may have just been unlucky to attempt login on an old PC at the same time.
Try the above first before going technical
Email problem will be autoarchive probably, again search for settings its probably in there somewhere
