Hi.. in brief, I have converted a 1992 965 Turbo 2 to a 993 GT2 body (please don't lecture me on the ethics of this!). The car is down to a bare metal shell & nearly ready for paint. I have got to make a choice on colour between Speed Yellow, Silver, White, Blue & Black..... what do you think??

I would go for black.

Are the 993 panels steel or carbon fibre by the way?

Do you have any pics?

Black sounds cool.. not seen one in the flesh that colour yet.
I've used all original steel wings & sills.. PU's (bumpers) are factory plastic, arch extentions, front splitter & rear spoiler are composit.
I have some pics that I will post if you would like to see the "work in progress"... thanks for the interest.

White, its the lightest paint which is why the factory always used it for their racers.

OK, here I am ready to be thrown out of PH for gross stupidity, but what is a 965? I assume it's a race or lightweight or widebody 964???

Maybe

Riviera blue or Maritime blue...perhaps predicatable.
Viper green (oh go on, why not?!)
Mint green (possibly a bit soft?)

Vic Cohen may be miffed if you copied his GT2's Audi RS blue as it is a one off. Nice though.

JC's black GT2 looked mean at Spa. A good safe choice. Russell's silver GT2 looked good too, very German.

I'd go for Viper green or orange (I am serious) and stick gold spoked BBS mags on.

964 turbo = 965

As for Speed Yellow, if that's not your taste then it'd have to be black.

My favorite colour for a 993 GT2 would be Vic's blue, but it would be a travesty to copy it.

I'd be tempted to have a colour that factory 993 GT2s weren't available in.

Now if it were mine, I'd have Zanzibar Red.

I think that would be a good touch, sort of recognising that its not the real thing.

However, I am definitely with VS - Speed Yellow.

To combine the two thoughts how about Ferrari Yellow? I assume the original cars weren't available in that shade.

The only trouble with met. black is keeping the blasted thing clean. My previous beloved was a black 3.2 which I was always rubbing over with a cloth, (nurse the screens!). Also don't stint on the re-spray, black will show up every little imperfection.
Trouble is, when done well they look the doggies!

Well Vics is the nicest looking GT2 ive ever seen, as its the only one in that colour- even if his is the real thing & this is a replica, but if you copy it im sure he'll send the boys round

Gotta second the zanzibar, would look sweeeet.

Personally I think what else would look good ona GT2 esk bod are- VW Monza blue, & BMW Estoril blue & one of the 73 RS oranges tho not sure if its Gulf orange or Signal orange
