Happens all the time in sales, have a great year, your quota generally goes up the next. I would add that it happens in poor sales environments by the way.

Unfortunately in a world run by accountants, they need to find a way to get you in line with the budget for your role. Currently, you are over their budget.

Is your manager going to bat for you?

Do you have a contract that states you have either capped or uncapped earnings?

Either way, don't take it personally, but you may find you need to move on if this is the game they want to play.

I’d agree with the above. By doing very well it can seem as though the targets are too easy so the reaction is to increase the target.

I had it happen in a previous job, there were 2 or 3 of us hitting maximum bonus each quarter. The next year it was impossible to even hit the threshold for the bonus.

Probably time to move on using your performance as a good reason for another company to hire you.

I've never understand this reasoning some businesses have.
Like having capped commission, all it does is stop people from trying hard.
Mainly comes from jealousy.
