996 GT3RS Starting To Grow On Me

I saw a 996 GT3RS out and about a few months back and thought it looked stunning in its white paint and red decals
The car seemed to shout more about the style of the 70’s 80’s and 90’s than the 00’s
With the fried egg lamps I actually thoughtit made it look very narrow and trim with an elegance all of its own. They do look small, light and simple giving the car a unique classic style all of its own
I’ve been watching the market since which has no shortage of cars and prices are all over the place from drivers to collectors examples. I thought this one looked a very nice example which you wouldn’t be scared to use and at sub £100k

The factory already did it pretty good job with the bold decals and 2 tone wheel colouring. I know I could improve it in some areas t on it that you normally do.

There isn't really a lot of point quoting prices from 10 years ago and getting hung up about what they were at the low. The world is a different place atm for all manner of reasons.... Everything (or mostly everything) is over valued as cheap money is chasing yield everywhere.
The 6rs is imo the car to have as a collector - compared to the other water cooled collector rs ie the 4.0 (whether lhd or not), the 6rs is not overvalued I reckon.

In the late 90's a business associate had a mint E30 M3. He loved it - brilliant cars they were too - but some idiot hit him head on and wrote the car off. Insurance eventually paid out, but prices had shifted and there were no nice examples (in his opinion) out there to buy so he bought a new 996 GT3 RS.
And still has it.
I think any 996 GT3 looks good. For my taste, the non-RS Mk2 just somehow edges it on price and looks.

I was sat in this car just last weekend. Had a close close look and was very tempted Maybe a bit up on miles but its properly mint and appears to be 100% factory original first paint, Good history too.

Completely agree - not for everyone and all circumstances but on the right road or any track, they are amazing. 996 GT3 (non-RS) looks great value compared to lots of other Porsches at the moment, if that is your thing.I'd say it's worth driving one before buying, they are not for everyone

Value wise, the non-RS variants of 996.1, 996.2 and 997.1 are very good VFM right now IMHO.Very different animal from the 991RS which filters a lot out and deals with it all behind the scenes leaving the driver to mop up whats left. The 996RS will feed everything back to the driver and leave him or her to deal with it responding instantly to whatever control adjustment he or she makes. Like all cars of that era, generally let down by poor damping control - especially rebound. On decent modern damping they are incredible
They are actually an easy car to drive quickly if you have a reasonable level of skill sets. A lot of drivers were intimidated by the very busy level of feedback. The trick is to filter out what isnt neccessary and just act on what is. Very engaging cars. One of the very few that are almost telepathic to drive. My favourite 911. If you want an amazing drive and make money in the long run, buy one. if you just want an amazing drive, buy a vanilla 6GT3 and modify it. Beardy man wont like it but It will cost a lot less.

Or 7.1, but yes, otherwise I agree.TBF, you really are going to be tempted to mod if you want to enjoy. Anything from the (wise) precaution of welding or plugging the coolant hoses, up-rated diff plates and brakes, right up to a 3.9 engine conversion. There's lots to be tempted by.
