Sorry, what is actually wrong with asking the ball girl to peel it?

Is there some tennis rule prohibiting it?

The ball boys and girls are there to have sweaty towels thrown back at them without so much as a thankyou - they cant be expected to unpeel fruit as well.

Don't understand the controversy here. If you have no finger / thumb nails for example, its probably easier to ask somebody to peel your banana than do it yourself. Would seem to be a reasonable request? I'm not a ball boy but if I was I'm sure I'd peel a banana for a player or anybody for that matter if asked hehe

What is wrong with asking somebody to do it? What if the person asking was an elderly person with severe arthritis or something?

Completely understandable if you're impaired somehow.

What impairment does he have?

Maybe as I said above he doesn't have any finger or thumb nails. Probably cuts them pretty short as a tennis player?

Or what if there is some physical or sporting reason that he doesn't want to do it. Maybe he has an injury or fatigue which makes it painful to move his hand in that way?

You don't need nails, btw wink

Hard to imagine what kind of ailment allows you to play professional tennis but prevents you from opening a banana...

Who peels a banana using their nails ? It’s not an orange.

True.

Wow this is complicated. So now have to have two categories; people we'd think it appropriate to peel a banana for, and people for whom that'd somehow be inappropriate. (Male tennis players of 231 seed or better falling into the latter category?) hehe

Somebody asks you to peel a banana for them in real life, surely you just do it? it's no hardship is it? Surely that individual would rather be able to peel their own banana?
