I'll be extending for the 2nd time in Mar for another 2 years on our 981CS. Haven't used it under the current cover, but we do a 2500+ mile euro trip every summer so it's piece of mind for us (includes recovery), and there have been a few pdk box failures, which means a replacement rather than repair so I'd rather avoid that if it was to occur. I did have the condensers and tracker transponders replaced under the used car warranty.
After having the PDK replaced under the original warranty on my old 981 I made sure I took out the extended warranty.
And then a few months into that I had the message below:
More expensive repairs, all covered thankfully. I would never run a German car without warranty...
I believe there is another poster on here who's had 20 grand's worth of warranty work.

This is a timely thread as I've been thinking the same, but have decided at the end of the month to cough up for a two year extension.
On the one hand it is annoyingly expensive, and my car has been pretty reliable, but on the other hand it feels like one gearbox or engine issue and the warranty will more than pay for itself.

This is my major worry with ditching the warranty. I’ll have a word with Revolution and see what their thoughts are re faulty PDK... can they repaired, dependant on fault, at a reasonable price or is it always a new ‘box. And then a few months into that I had the message below:

Had extended warranty on my 981C for 2 years but can't any more due to aftermarket grilles.
So far I'm around £2k up in my slush fund. If I could have the warranty I probably would again just for peace of mind.
No, I'm not taking the grilles off as stone damage to rads is more of a worry than anything else and warranty won't pay for this.

Few thoughts:
The Official Porsche Warranty seems to be highly regarded in terms of cost/value, level of cover, and claims efficiency. So, if you are going to have a Warranty, it’s the one to have.
If you have a £50k+ (When new) Porsche then, with each year of age, the potential for a claim inevitably increases - and the more miles you do, again, the greater the risk.
If you ever wish to sell the car ‘privately’, then the inclusion of a transferrable/extendable Porsche Warranty is a big positive ‘peace of mind’ for any private buyer. It can add almost the cost of the Warranty to the value.

I understand you can buy back into the extended warranty system for a car where the original or extended warranty has expired years earlier by having the 111 point check done (which has to be done anyway) but I'm a little misty on whether the car has to have a full Porsche service history to do this. Anyone?

Thanks.Also, if buying an out of warranty car privately I think the trick is to get the seller to arrange the service/111 point check and put the warranty on whilst in their name so it transfers on purchase as there's a 90 day (?) exclusion otherwise, but do correct me as I'm not 100%.

Lots of indies sell their cars with warranties included.
Potential thing to consider - OPC work vs some indies can look very pricey. In this respect it can make a warranty look like superb value, but when not running a warranty wonder how many people go elsewhere to not pay OPC prices
Guess like most people the decision to warranty is going to be based on the attitude to risk, only that person can say whether it is worth it.
