Is there anyone else like me who is never satisfied with you car and is always looking for the next one?

I think since I sold my cossie in 2006, I have always bought a car and then always wantibg to change it.

Has anyone experienced this? Has anyone overcome it? If so, how?

I think I'm a serial car monogamist... I love cars but usually end up falling in love with what I buy and keep it for ages.

Nope, always looking for the next one.

As much as I enjoy the cars I own, I love looking for the next just as much!

Me all over.

That’s why I moved over to leasing for our family fleet as this way I can run several cars in the short term for peanuts. We have one on an annual cycle, one on a 2 yr cycle and one on a 3 yr cycle.

It means we’re effectively always looking and sorting what we want next. I find it works well but will not do a 3yr lease again and stick to 18-24mths max.

i've only ever bought new cars through necessity really as I get really attached to my cars/van.

The only car I couldn't wait to get shot of was an MX5. It just felt unbelievably slow and boring for me.

the two I have at the moment I plan to keep for many many years.

I’m the same. I agonise over any purchase and make sure I’m buying something I really want in the first place and hang on to it.
Trouble is you can end up with a lot of cars that way.

If I do fall for one I do keep it for a while. A few cars I got rid of quite quickly (couple of years). Current fleet I have owned two of them for eight years, one for three years and one for a year (but it is my second one of same make/ model)

My first two cars I kept for less than a year, then I kept a MK1 MR2 for seven years (loved that car).

So it depends.....

I suffer from the same affliction. I want to keep a car but after about 9 months I am looking for the next one. I must be a car salesman’s dream.

I've had 5 since last March. Just got #5 and agonised over the purchase as I do with most of them, but I've scratched the itch now and want it gone for something else.

Anybody fancy a Landcruiser, or want to sell me an R129 SL or 1976 Eldorado convertible...?

I’m a mixture with my daily it takes about 6 months before I start picking holes in the car I have and looking for something that in my mind will be better.

Although I think this might be that I have never got the car I really want as a daily yet. Always compromised. For example got a Range Rover sport I like it a lot but annoys me that it’s the hybrid would have preferred the TDV8 but company car so CO2 matters.

For special cars I’m the opposite buy and never bloody sell. So the fleet just gets bigger. Every time I go to buy another I tell myself I will trade sell something else, but then I get there and doesn’t happen. laugh

I think it is familiarity makes you start to see issues with small stuff in a car that doesn’t happen if you only use a car every now and the .

I have spent over 40 years buying cars and looking for the next one as soon as I'd got the current one!

But in my later years I seem to have plateaued - the only change I might want to make now (when budget allows) is for a BMW 130i to replace my 330i.

I suspect getting a BMW Z4M Coupe to replace my 3.0Si Coupe last month may have been a major factor in this as it had no real replacement in the BMW line-up. (Twin-turbo Z4 E89s don't count)!

I love the thrill of the chase. Scouring autotrader and eBay for possible replacements. Sometimes days after buying a new car.

It’s an expensive vice.

I was the same last year, went from an X Trail to an X5 via a 3 series in 2 months redface but it's the depreciation if a car is on finance, sometimes you can feel like West Ham United trying to buy a decent player in the transfer window biggrin for now, I'm giving the credit cards a rest is it's too much drama for the Mrs rolleyes

Me all over. 50 or so cars in 14 years, none on finance but it still gets costly. As I’ve aged it’s slowed down and the current one has been with me since August last year. While I swap a lot we keep one as a family car and have had that for 4 years now

Kind of, I spent a long time awaiting the arrival of my M140i which if I’m honest I’m really pleased with and it balances a lot of stuff well (I.e. it’s plenty quick enough but doesn’t cost the earth to run). I can’t help and day dream and look at M2/3 Comps for sale.

That won’t happen for ages though because I’ll take a proper financial bath if I change too early.

One of our directors has had seemingly every fast modern German car there is, over the time I’ve known him. I think he regrets selling the panamera.

Must ask him for advice if I’m ever in the market.
