Amazon Tour - Anyone been?

Not the rainforest but the Amazon depot, I mean Amazon Fulfilment Centre tour, the one they are advertising all the time on every single platform to try and convince you they have great working conditions and not in any shape or form a exhausting modern slave driving sweatshop.
It all seems a bit of an odd thing to do. Select a group of trusted employees to proclaim how great it is to work in the Amazon Fulfilment Centre. Then offer a tour to the wider public in an attempt to prove themselves right. I can't imagine my work or any other warehouse or logistics company doing it. I wonder if the part of the Amazon Fulfilment Centre you tour is specially constructed in similar fashion to a North Korean factory complete with fake smiles.
Just interested to hear if anyone has been on the tour and if the employees are worked to near death as is the common perception.

tting in boxes or dying on the tour.I can still remember the first time I walked along a moving production line whilst on work experience. Last year I got to see a combine harvester production line, even though i work in a factory myself now I still found that fascinating (due to the sheer size of everything).
I'm sure a warehouse won't be as good, but for anyone that's never seen something like that I bet it would be very interesting. I'm keen to do that Amazon tour at some point, not to look at the working conditions but to see how it all works

I hadn’t got to the end of your post and was already thinking “I bet it’s like going to North Korea where they escort you around and only show you choreographed good bits”...It all seems a bit of an odd thing to do. I was in one recently doing a job for them. I literally got to see the whole place so there was no choreographed tour at all.
I didn’t see anyone as much as sweating never mind running. Nobody was yelling, there was no use of a whip. It actually seemed relaxed. They’d built break rooms in each corner of the building so people didn’t have to go all the way to the main canteen if they didn’t want to. There were many vending machines in each and I was surprised to find they were all free too.
What did really astonish me though is the stories of thefts, very imaginative.

Yes we have done them twice.
Both at the Lichfield Fulfilment Centre.
It’s fascinating, and you come away very impressed, and despite working in IT software management for 25 years, how they use the system for locating the item will amaze you.
You also get a surprise at the end too, but i wont spoil that for you.
Well worth going.

Strangely enough it has a reputation in the UK for being one of the worst in the network so I'm glad to hear you found it interesting. I visited it recently and thought it was looking very tidy and organised so maybe having so many tours has encouraged them?Both at the Lichfield Fulfilment Centre.

Not been on the tour but I’ve done a lot of work as a contractor for the swansea one
I don’t know why you would go on a tour there, it’s essentially screwfix but on a massive scale, people with RF guns picking stock and people
Putting it away. It’s quite good that they put stuff in any bin that the gun gives them instead of all the same type of item being together.
The most interesting bit is the packing machines or the vending machines with gloves in.

I was part of the project group for a robotic dispensing system back in 2005 at a hospital in the north east. It has subsequently replaced twice since then. It hasnt impacted on staff as they have been redeployed onto wards etc. It cant replace the staff anyway due to legal implications with medicines act
