George 'Best' ?
Discussion
What is it with this bloke?
I used to think he was alright. Why? Because he played for Man U and was an extraordinary talent. Also because he came across as a nice bloke on TV.
Will he ever learn? Surely not. He's nearly 60 now and still he's getting in all kinds of mytha.
If its not with Alex (his ex) its with his latest woman.

Sorry George but recently you really have gone down the pan and seem to be swooping to all time lows. I'm starting to dislike you.
What a fucked up life some people end up leading.

Wasn't it his Girlfriend that hit him last week? I'm sure I heard on the news that she had been arrested and he had a black eye?
Agree with you though, he looks a wreck and hasnt seemed to learn from his mistakes. On the other hand do you think he is targetted by the younger women who break up with him and sell stories to the tabloids??

Yeh, as the hotel porter said to him many moons ago when he entered his room and saw George in a bath robe with a Miss World in his bed, "Where did it all go wrong Mr Best?"
Yeah, wondered how long it would take for somebody to mention that.
Hence my wordage 'end up leading'.
I suppose if you lead a particular life style for so long, its incredibly difficult to change. It just gives people ammunition to use on people like Wayne Rooney, et al and the predictions on how their lives will pan out. I mean look at Gazza and what happened with his life, not too disimilar to Best...
Growing up I was never a football fan (I'm 27), but everyone knows George Best. However, all my memories of Best are of his boozing and fooling around with some model or other.
Surely by now any kudos he had earned for sporting success has been eroded by years of being known as someone who has squandered everything he was ever given?

For someone who's been bankrupt more times than I can google to find out, he's still not badly off - remember he has a nice little earner at Sky Sports on a Saturday for commentating in the studio on the footy. Probably 100k a year at least.
Thing is, like most 'celebrities' he hasn't anything interesting to say on anything ... these people are fine when they're using their talent to entertain you, but after that, they're of no more interest really.
It's a pity he's still thought off as newsworthy ... let the old soak just while away his days in peace.
Mind you, he was bloody good and I'll always remember him kicking the ball over Banks' head when the England 'keeper was trying to kick it clear from his hands, and then heading it into the net in a Home International. Goal was disallowed. Superb though.

Lets face it, George's career and life went down the pan as early as 1972......
What has he done since........ziltch! Sweet FA.
A crying shame, one of the finest talents to grace the English game, but the funny thing is I don't think he would have wanted things any other way.
