WSB Assen 2020
Discussion
Looking for advice Guys for the Mrs and I to do WSB Assen this year on the bike
We’re based in between Edinburgh and Glasgow so probably looking at getting the Ferry from Newcastle.
We’re looking for recommendations on where to stay while over there and best place for tickets etc.
Would probably try leave the Thursday evening and return either the Sunday evening or Monday morning and purchase the 3-Day tickets.....Fri-Sun with Paddock Pass.
Any help greatly appreciated

Definitely, definitely book a hotel.
It seems to have one big hotel and a few small ones and that's it. I'm normally very lucky getting in on spec (could probably turn up to Mecca during the Hajj and get in) but failed dismally when I tried this at Assen. The year I went they had managed to organise the WSB event and an international disabled athletics event on the same weekend so probably contributed to the accommodation issue but the people-watching was somewhat entertaining Sat night.
Had to sleep in the wife's tiny little sports car by driving it into / under an overhanging tree in public car park and woken up later by a drunk pissing on it. Horrendous weather is also available at Assen and the year I went everyone fell off (sometimes twice) and eventually Chris Walker won it. After going "Yay!" for about 1 minute we decided to GTFO and drove towards Belgium and gatecrashed a friends' wedding anniversary in Bruges. Got utterly shedded!
I'm still scarred by the experience but planning to visit Assen for the MotoGP this year. Hedging my bets I'm taking a campervan - any good camp sites?

Get yourself over there, you will have a great time. If you are going on a bike take the appropriate clothing, it can be cold in Holland in April, snowed last year on the Saturday. Been a few times and we travel over Thursday night from Harwich to the Hook of Holland, then from the Hook we head up towards Amsterdam, round Amsterdam heading towards Hoorn, then Middenmeer, towards Den Over. At Den Over, you then ride/drive across a Dam, think it is over 20 miles in length, with a great little Café about halfway across, where we stop for Coffee and Cake. You cant see land and it feels like you are riding across the ocean.
We stay in a place called Groningen and it has loads of Hotels, Restaurants and Bars and a really good atmosphere. Its only about 20 odd miles from Assen and loads of bikers, team personal seem to be around the town. Depending on where you stay, but most of the hotels have decent parking, but its still worth taking your locks, you just never know. Buy your tickets at the circuit, there is never a shortage, unlike Moto GP and the Paddocks are free at WSBK

A pal & I are heading over. Sailing on Thursday evening from Hull, back Monday morning. We are staying in Assen. Here’s hoping the weather is kind. The last time I was there was Sept 99 in the middle of Foggy Fever. We camped in a field near the circuit, cow s
te absolutely everywhere with toilets & showers separated from our Bovine hosts by some flimsy corrugated sheet. I’m thinking this years trip should be far more comfortable.

Tbh Guys, after doing a wee bit research we’re thinking of going a little further as the Weather in Assen for that round seems to be more Rain/Cold than Sunshine.
A couple of Us has looked at heading to Oschersleben for the WSB end of July/Aug weekend, bit further to travel obviously but we plan to make a week of it.
Found a nice small house to rent for 4 nights very cheap just 13mls from the Track
