Munich Stelvio Slovenian Alps Munich

Hi all,

In the summer I am doing the route above with a few mates. Pick cars up in Munich then stay near the Stelvio pass with a view to getting up early the next day to head along it. Then, on to the Slovenian Alps.

We are looking at routes / things to see and do / places to stay / places to eat / things to avoid and so on.

If anyone has any tips or ideas I would much appreciate the advice.

Check the insurance situation with the hire company re countries allowed to visit!

Portoroz is Slovenia is quite nice, I think I stayed at the Palace Hotel (big hotel on the main road along the beach)
I can recommend the Schlosshotel in Velden at the Wörthersee if you drove back through Austria. Grossglocknerstr and Nockalmstrasse are both very nice (prefer them to the Stelvio)
On the way down, Seefeld is very pretty and has a few nice hotels

Check the dates. Stelvio opens MUCH later than people think and the actual date is, obviously, weather dependant.
