So there's a new 50p coin coming out to mark us leaving the EU.

Some of the usual suspects are tweeting that they will refuse to take it in change.

Will any businesses (barring the odd nutty vegan cafe in places like Brighton) be brave enough to refuse to take them in payment?

If I get any I'm going to reserve them for paying people that look like they may resent it. hehe

Do people still use cash these days?, how quaint, typical Brexiteers, living in the past...

It seems like a stupid idea to me, inb4 all the dole pole crew are asking for the change from their 20 lambert & butler in 'them brexit 50 pees' and then trying to flog them on FB for £5 a go.

This country is a wind up.

20 L&B are £10 so they wouldn’t get much change unless they’re paying with a £20 note in which case they’ll get a £10 note back most likely. But yeah, what a wind up. Damn ‘dole pole’ scumbag.

Well at least you'll be able to spend them on those foreign beers now Timmy Wetherspoons has backtracked on selling European Beers, almost as if he said he'd ban European Beers for a bit of rabble rousing...

Bit of a naff inscription though, whatever side of the fence you are on.

Perhaps they should forgo Liz on one side and have Yippee and Booo. Covers both camps then.

Edit. Sounds a bit Apollo 11.

I think considering the celebrations of this historical time, this is a good idea as a keepsake.

How has he backtracked, the drinks on offer have always been sold...?

I drink Birra Moretti in Spoons, maybe if you didn't get your news from the Dailymail you might have a better grasp on the actual reality.

A commemorative 50p coin was introduced when the UK went into the EU, so I cannot see a problem with doing exactly the same when coming out. It is just a 50p coin.

Daily Mail?

Is the cheap drink making you a bit tetchy? it was only a light hearted quip.

On the odd occasions I get change I enjoy when I find coins which are less well circulated.

Some 50p coins can sell for £10 or more (£100+ for Kew Gardens I believe) so there's some merit in checking your change.

Indeed, although I think the idea of a brexit coin is fking daft I do have some coins worth more than their face value.
