Ok, so not the greatest jeopardy and I may be a naive father, but setting those two things aside:
I find vape liquid in my 14 year old daughter’s bag and try to put the fear of god into her buy asking what if the police or the school found it?
She tells me she carries her friend’s vape equipment but does not use it herself. For the sake of argument I believe her.
I understand it’s illegal to sell the stuff to under 16s, but what’s the position on her carrying it?
What’s the worst that could happen? Could she get a caution? Could I?

As I understand it, retailers selling vape products to a person under the age of 18 would be committing an offence. Similarly, any person buying vape products for someone under the age of 18 would be committing an offence.
Under current law, it is not illegal for someone under the age of 18 to use or possess vape products in the UK AFAIK.
It is less controlled than tobacco products where a police officer may confiscate items from persons under 18 years old if they feel necessary. Still don't believe a crime is committed when smoking tobacco products under 18 years old.

I’m not sure hamming it up and turning it into a police warning is the right way to go. Especially when said 14 year could probably google it and find out it’s not true. In my experience a calm discussions about the virtues of vaping and nicotine addiction is the way to go. They are going to do it/try it anyway.
BTW in case you haven’t figured it out, it is extremely likely that it is hers and not her ‘friends’

If you’re under 16 the police have the right to confiscate your cigarettes (per web) so would vaping be treated the same?Oddly for drinking alcohol.... lower limit is 5 at home or private place.

Laws are laws but like religion, we pick which bits we like and dislike.
Is she aware of the importance of not getting caught? Very often the activity itself is largely harmless but the consequence of being caught can shift your whole career path.

The law seems quite specific to tobacco and not nicotine.
OP sorry to break it to you but it is time you realised your daughter is no longer your little girl, but is now a little lady (from her perspective anyway).
Regardless of if you take it away she won’t listen, she will just get more.
She obviously does use it, it’s considered “cool” among this age group. Surely you don’t actually believe that she just carries it for her mates?
Just advise her, don’t control her, she’ll resent you for it if you do.

Lads mate ordered vape kit from Amazon and sent to our address. Amazon delivery man asks me to sign - I open packet - son tries to slope off! I speak to him and his mate that ordered it - 'you are curious and that's OK but there is reason you aren't allowed this. Try not to put untested s
te from China in your football mad lungs. Bad idea'. Huge 'PLEASE dont tell my parents' from other lad. Agree to send it back to Amazon if he brings a label round and i have a chance to have a word. Then get a stroppy text that its 'not my place to take away stuff i've paid for'. I say fair enough and will just let your parents deal with this. Cue 3 hours of txts pleading with me not to. Went 'round anyway but they were out. He got lucky.

I’m well aware she might well be lying. At her age I was smoking and drinking! She’s lucky I dealt with it and not her mother! I did manage to be very firm initially (as opposed to angry) and then came down to her level and got a good response (maybe too good if believe her?...).
