Carphone warehouse wierdness!!!!!
Discussion
Dont know what to make of this so thought I would post it on here!
My CPW store near to where I work mis-sold me a contract for Orange just over a month ago. They told me specifically that it was 750mins off peak to any network (I asked 3 times because it soundded so cheap) and only after making a months worth of calls and calling ornage to find out why my bill was so high did I discover it was to orange mobiles and landlines only!!!
I contacted the store and explained the situation, they apologised profusely mentioning that the clerk I delt with was new and took the phone back and promised to pay the bill when it arrived.
Well the bill came through today @ £107odd!! :yikes:
I called the store and spoke to the manager who said they would pay the phone bill minus the line rental. When I mentioned that they I would not be paying the line rental as it was a contract that I was mis-sold in the first place, she told me that she had spoken to the clerk and in fact he never said anything to me about cross network mins at all  - sudden change of heart there!!
I then said "I will come down to the store with this bill, you get him to look me in the eye and tell me that he advised me properly"
She has now told me that she does not want me to come to the store and if I fax the bill across she will pay it in full.
Now while I am happy at the end result, I am pissed off that they dont want to see me in the store! why?! What exactly are they afraid of?! I wasnt speaking agressivly down the phone.
So once the bill is paid, should I email head office explaining that I am a little confused over the issue or leave it at that?
Sorry for the long post ;)

I would have said you're quite lucky getting it paid, just be happy with the end result. I know quite a few guys who work at The Link and i'm sure they'd have all told you where to go and just denied all knowledge, sad but true.
Cheers,
Rob.
Fair point.
I am just miffed that they are accusing me of getting it wrong, even though by their admission the member of staff was new and had made plenty of mistakes (2 of them alone with me!) I gain nothing from it apart from a lot of wasted time and hassle.
Boring story, but relates the incompetence levels to be dealt with
I ordered a upgrade and contract change the other day from o2. I had the option of doing this via one of their shops or on the phone. I decided to do it on the phone so it would just be me speaking to an idiot, rather than me speaking to an idiot who would then repeat what i said to another idiot.
I updated my address details with them
I said what phone I wanted, agreed no problem
I said what contract I wanted, quoting a friends deal, she said I couldnt have it as it was a retention contract only, so I said 'so, if I say ill go elsewhere if i dont get it?', and presto, contract agreed
I asked them to confirm the address the phone would be sent to, they replied with the new one
I ring my old address and inform them it might turn up there (cant trust people to do their jobs properly)
Phone doesnt turn up. enquiry reveals phone is out of stock and they didnt see the need to mention it to me.
Phone arrives at old address.
What can you do eh? It does seem its too much to expect people to do their jobs properly...

I absolutely hate the CPW, if I have to be in one of their shops I make sure it is as quick and painless as possible, preferably by picking the most senior member of staff on the desk or ask to deal with the manager.
For example, a while back I bought a Sony Ericsson P800 from them, took it back a week later and said I couldn't sort out the internet conection. The woman on the desk said she had never seen a phone like it! Even though they had sold it to me!
Enter manager, to who I explained what I had done the night before by downloading settings from their website. So what does he do? Goes to their website and downloads the settings. "You must have done it wrong" he said. 30 minutes later "there must be a fault with the phone". Me: "ok, but you sold it to me". Manager: "Well I'm sorry, I cant do anything to help you".
Totl morons.
