I would stick with 5w-40 fully synthetic. The engine's requirement for a quality oil does not change with age.

As per the SAE, we select oil viscosity based on the climate in which the vehicle is operated.
10w is appropriate down to -22c, 5w is appropriate if your climate sees -30c and 0w is best if you need to start your car in -40c conditions.

Further, 10w40 contains less VIIs than 5w or 0w so is less prone to reduced viscosity due to shear.

Be sure to use a CI specific oil which has significantly more dispersant than SI targeted oil to hold more soot in suspension for more hours and thereby minimise sludge formation.

As others have said; 5W40 should be more than enough

I use ECP's TripleQX 5W40, which meets all necessary specs. I buy via GSF or Carparts4less on eBay though (both part of the ECP group) as it's generally cheaper than ECPs website, even with their discount code and it usually arrives next day!

Is it using much oil? If youre not topping up much more than a litre between services, just stick with the OEM specification oil.

I went to Halfords and got Castrol 5/30 magnatec £23 for 4 litres x2 , didn’t have time to order anything online as I had a day off today to service the car

Been a busy boy today oil service , fuel filter , cabin filter , crankcase breather , air filter , and replaced the 18inch mv1s with 17inch style 68s , fed up with the mv1s cracking

Started at 10 am finished at 4 pm , took my time all ready for mot tomoz

Car hasn’t been serviced for 2 years roughly 8k miles dosnt use any oil

Car runs better and drives nicer with 17inch wheels 😎

Fingers crossed for tomoz

Good job. 68s are the answer.
