Subaru v Nissan v Mazda

Have narrowed our choice down to the Forester, CX5 & Xtrail. All petrol all about yr 2014/5/6 so price wise sameish around 13/14/15000k pounds. We wont do more than 2/3k miles a year, mainly short journeys hence the petrol.

I would like an auto but that impacts the towing a bit. And Nissan doesn't do one. The Forester auto can pull 2000kg and the auto does better mpg.

What would be your choice? (I do appreciate that the 3 above may not be your choice but we are kind of stuck with decent mpg, tow weights).

It would be the Forester for me because of the power output which makes it the better tow car the XTrail would be second choice because the 1.6T will have more torque making it the better car.

TY for that and we are thinking the same. I do like the foresters interior that can be washed down as its bleddy muddy here in winter. The Forester is more "suv like" compared to the X trail and cx5....IMHO and the ruggedness is probably more suited to our needs. Thanks.

Forester for me too. My dad leased an x trail and it was so dull. Did the job but there wasn’t anything about it that made you want it.

Only has 1 key! And a small scratch on the bonnet. FSH etc etc.

Looking at trading in my C5, (2.0 hdmi 2008 exclusive), which is a bit tatty, due a full service etc. Where should I start offer wise???

Rather than focus on how much to negotiate off the Subaru you want to work out what 'cost to change' figure is acceptable.

How much do you want to contribute over the value of the C5? £11k? so on paper they'd be giving you £1.5k for the C5 - how they get to that figure doesn't really matter at the end of the day, it maybe £500 off the Subaru and C5 at £1k or variations of that theme.

What’s your mileage? An XT will be fun but thirsty.

Cheers, according to the honest john "real mpg", they do the same mpg as the are they same engines albeit, ones turbo'd
