nearly a year since my last post on this one, found a photo of its rear corner on the net at a Capri show at Stoneleigh in 1994,no change in status on the DVLA,sitting in a barn or rotting gently in a yard perhaps? Shame if so as prices are getting serious now.

Using the limited no-cost, not-in-the-trade resources available to me online, there are a couple of clues to where the car could be -

It looks like D939UMR has had the same owner since June 1994 - is that when you sold it "Fox50"? If it is, can you remember who you sold it to back then? Even if you know the town/area it was sold to, its maybe worth visiting a couple of the family run, longer established garages in that area armed with a nice photo of UMR to see if anyone can put you on to the owner. I have done this before and although a garage proprietor didn't tell me the car's owner, they passed my details on and I spoke with the owner of the car I was looking for (also a Capri...).

The DVLA MOT history site show its last MOT was in October 2013 and going by the MOT history, it has not even had any advisories so there is every chance its still cherished and stored correctly rather than abandoned in a barn or such like.

The Tax Check site shows SORN as you know with last V5C issued February 2015 - this does not necessarily mean that there has been an owner change at this point, maybe the keeper moved house and/or misplaced the V5C and applied for a replacement in the newer format?

Keep us posted on how you get on!

steviemillar, many thanks for the reply, agree with all your conclusions and the date of sale is spot on,sadly the garage i px-ed it against a Carlton 24v Gsi is long gone,I heard from them that is was sold by them to a collector possibly in the West Midlands but the trail is cold after that. Was drowned in Waxoyl when I reassembled it following a bare shell repaint so am hopeful it has kept well as you sugest. I have plenty of period pictures and history for the current owner, but respectful if they dont want be identified. Will keep you posted if anything crops up,cheers.
