4x4 big SUV diesel market conditions
Discussion
Just out of interest, where is the market heading for these vehicles now ?
I had a 2004 Grand Cherokee 2.7 crd and loved it, and often think of getting a newer, say 2016 Grand for £20K (Euro 6 spec)
But I've been watching the adds for months and nothing seems to be selling. I know diesel isn't flavour of the month right now, but just how badly has it effected the market ?

I sold a 2018 Porsche Macan Diesel last September - part ex traders and WBAC etc were offering ridiculously low amounts for it, even by WBAC standards (£28k rings a bell). At that point I was thinking "oh s
t" as I really wanted shot of it, mainly as it was awful. Porsche dealers wouldn't even bid!
However, I advertised it on PH and received a number of decent trade bids, one of which I accepted (£39k). It disappeared from the traders website a week later, was up for about £44k I think.
So to me that says there is still a decent market for Diesel SUV's, you just have to hold your nerve!

It is very hard to gauge interest in them at the moment but the ones I have on my watch list in autotrader are not shifting.
New X5 and Mercedes Gle 350d are hanging around despite big price drops.
I really fancy one as a daily car but am going to wait for the time being as they appear to be hemorrhaging money!

My 4.2 Q7 went back May 2018. It moved through the auctions in Sept-18 and is still with the garage that bought it. It’s been reduced a couple of times but isn’t selling at all.
It’s not galactic mileage and was well specd.
This was the reason I handed it back as I had a feeling that it would become a financial noose.
