Solar charger on a 650i
Discussion
Hi all,
I use a solar charger on my 2005 650i as it can be left standing for a little while. It's one of these jobbies that plugs into the OBD port.
I assumed it would have a very, very low rate of charge... So low that it would not have an implications on the IBS system. Am I right, or is it best to not confuse the car's charging system?
TIA.

This made me question what sort of an array of solar panels would be needed to charge an i8?
I have used solar panels to keep batteries topped up on various vehicles. Never had any issues.

Well a 2kW solar panel is around 150 square feet. A 3.7kW source would charge it in 2 hours.I have used solar panels to keep batteries topped up on various vehicles. Never had any issues.
