Ok,ok, the article I referred to was about someone called Peter Wheeler who wants to buy A Triumph TR7

Doubt BMW would part with the Triumph name unless substantial money was involved. It was one of the 'names' that they hung on to after they sold Rover off, rumoured to be because of teh close rivalry between the Dolomite Sprint and 2002tii back at the end of the '70s.

I had a Dagenham bucket for several years back in the mid 80's (TR7 ragtop). Couldnt afford a Wedge so that was the next best thing, didnt have the power of a TVR obviously but was a great car in it day.
But Trimph purists shunned it cos it went away from the traditional straight 6 engine.

They still do but in a more jovial way.

The 7/8 got off to a bad start due to the civil unrest at the time but it was a good car once the workforce started building them properly. Whats more, they have a good race history beating many an exotic car on the track and for diy conversions the potential is almost endless given the size of the engine bay.

They were never made in dagenham though.
