New flashing signal????!!!

Today I was sat at traffic lights and the car infront started pressing his break lights on and off and on and off and on and off etc etc... for ages!! I wasn't parked up his arse or anything.

But strange thing...had something similar happen yesterday. At 2 lane traffic lights and went to overtake a biddy I'd been stuck behind doing 27 in a 50 :( There was no one infront of her and it was a clear straight 2 laned road but as I went past I noticed her do the flashy break light thing!

Is this some new craze or something!!!

Was sat behind a Transit who flashed his brake lights a few times last night. I understood what he meant when he started flashing his reversing lights - he wanted me to reverse so he could go round the numpty who parked too far back from the sensor of some traffic lights over a bridge. I had left enough room between me and Transit so I overtook Transit and numpty, much to thee annoance of the numpty who stuck his fingers up at me when the lights magically turned green as I went past him...

That was my initial thought today but I was sat well back from him as he'd actually crept up past the line after initially stopping.
Plus I definately couldn't have reversed from 50mph yesterday! HAHAHA!

Err... what colour was the brake light. Was it an orangey colour? If so, that's an "indicator" not a brake light. Used to indicate direction of turning. Simple mistake to make though.

Clifford Blackjax (it's anti hijak alarm system) will continually flash the brake lights and sound the siren prior to shutting down the engine when the car's speed drops below a certain threshold.

Was the car being driven by a ne'er do well?

I have been known to sit at the lights pumping the brakes on and off...

If you do this in a Morris Minor when stopped on a suitable downhill gradient, in time with the resonant frequency of the suspension, the car moves down the hill imperceptibly slowly... but bounces up and down on the suspension in a most entertaining manner.

The only time I've done that is when I'm in a convoy with a mate behind me. And it's usually a carefully constructed mix of breaks and reverse lights, and even hazards if no1 is around!!

My guess is that your headlights need adjusting, or something else is wrong at the front of your car.

Was in the day so didn't have anything on and front of car is all ok.

Could they have had their foot resting lightly on the brake pedal and have an electronic rather than hydraulic brake light switch? Or possibly a loose brake pedal vibrating and aforementioned electric switch?

Could you see the driver in their rearview mirror? i.e. were they looking at you or completely away with the faries?

Again have been known to do this combined with obligatory drumming on the steering wheel, as it only requires a small ‘tap’ of the brake to activate the lights.

Reminds me of a friends story, certain Euroboxes automatically activate the hazards when an emergency stop is detected, they wondered what it was for the first few laps of the ring in there hire car

When trogging along fast road, a rapid flashy brake light can be a signal that the reason they are all going so slowly is that there is an unmarked plod at the head of a column, or that you've spotted summat up ahead.

I have done that TBH, without realising, then looking in the mirror to see driver behind has also spotted you dancing and singing into the mirror
