What is the the best way to check the Alternator, is there a fuse for it?
Haven't used the car since Tuesday night due to being away with work went to start it and just clicking from the starter motor.
Battery was replaced in Dec04 but was down to 11.6 volts and on a battery charger so currently charging now at 11.8.
100 fuse looks intact.
Once the battery is up to higher levels i'll start it and see what the voltage is then a few revs and see if it increases.

When my alternator went last month the car gave two signs.
1) Usually when switching on the ignition I would get three lights on the dash, MIL, Oil Pressure and Ignition warning light (Batt). The Ignition light stopped working! I would expect it to be on all the time
2) When reving over 4k the rev counter bounced. It also bounced when using the brakes and indicators!
I was lucky, drove to Leven and switched off right outside their door. Went to start it to drive into the workshop and just a click without turning over!
£490 later
Fingers crossed it's a cheaper fix for you! although it's not the biggest bill in the Cerbera world

Since Tuesday night
I leave mine for four weeks at a time and it still starts ok.
Stick a meter on the +ve terminal and the other lead on earth (fuel rail will do). Engine running should read about 13.5V - 14.5V at a bit more than tickover (2000rpm). At tickover it may only read 12.5V or so. If you see less then you need to find out why. First and cheapest option is the fuse. If you want to check and don't have one to hand then just take it out and screw one fuse terminal on top of the other terminal.
If it's still bad then it's probably cheaper to just take out the alternator and take it to be repaired. Cost me 60 quid to get the regulator replaced when I was reading way too many volts (16.5V).

depending on wether its a rectifier or regulater fault depends wether or not the ignition light comes on or not.as said, charge battery or jump start, and check battery voltage (between = and- terminals 13.5v to 14v. with a few revs on. (try with load ie lights, wipers, etc.
you could also buy an amp meter, put it between the +ve terminal and the +ve clamp and see if there is a power drain with all switched off and see whats hapening with the motor running.
i find that the lander sensors and fuel pump relay have a constant power wen all is switched off this is up to 5 amps, ill investigate when i can be botherd but iff 15a fuse 3rd from rear is removed this dosnt drain the battery.
A FUSE SHOULD NEVER BE BYPASSED (or over rated),there there for a reason.(but saying that some one should explain that to the factory).
has any one got a full wiring diagram for one of theise mazes?
