Business lease - being asked for a lot of data / info!

Hi all,

Just wondering if I'm being a bit of d**k about this, but our current business lease car goes back soon so applying for a new one and they asked for 3 years of full accounts, 3 months of bank statement and my drivers license.

To me, it just feels like a lot of info to be handing over glibly, via email! If it leaked, someone could easily get loan / credit as my business, spoof my bank as they'd have everything including photo ID.

I've asked if I could get a receipt that once they've checked it, they'll destroy the data... However, I do think I may be just getting a bit too carried away...

Is that amount of info normal? The last car was just a credit check on the business and that was that...

How much is the car, that sounds onerous.

I would ring up a few others and ask what their requirements are.

I wouldn’t say your being a dick. I can understand the hesitation especially when it’s so use to use the data to hi Jack your identity and ruin your life.

That's it... And then the flip side of AML and KYC legal requirements just all seem at absolute odds with each other

I've just signed a business lease and didn't have to disclose or provide anything.

Is it a credit record / history / reference thing maybe?

I'm sure they did a credit check... But maybe it's a threshold thing? Or a risk of the asset thing?

Are they FCA registered and do they have ICO accreditation?

If so nothing to worry about your data will be safe.

If you don’t feel comfortable with email post the docs (copies).
