3 Series F31 Tyre choice

Hi team BMW! Hope this finds you all well.
I've just picked up a 330D XDrive touring today. And I have a full tyre change for it due within a few months.
I'm on 225/40 R19 89Y front and 255/35 R19 92Y rear.
I've previously had Bridgestone Potenza's S001 Run Flats on a 435D and they seemed to do the job. I stuck to the road most of the time...
Does anyone here have any opinions on (all are run flats):
Bridgestone Potenza S001
Bridgestone Turanza T005
Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 2
And any other tyre choices
I know some swap out of using run flats and carry a can of tyre inflator but I'm going to stick with them.

Do you mean 225 fronts?
I swapped my wheels and tyres on an F30 335d from 19” Pirelli down to 18” Goodyear Efficient Grips. Both sets were runflats. Quieter, and better around towns with speed humps.
To be exact 225/40-R19 89Y and 255/35-R19 92Y Pirelli Pzero Runflats
To 225/45-R18 91Y and 255/40-R18 95Y Goodyear EfficientGrip.

Interesting. Forgive me if this is a bit of a silly question but when you went down to 18", is this with an alloy change? Or did the profile adjustment of 5 correct that? I've never looked into or come across changing Rim size before and wasnt aware you could.
Did you notice anything with fuel efficiency or grip when you changed Pirelli to Goodyear?

I believe Michelin now do Pilot Sports as RFTs (not sure which exact model). Also Continental do SportContact as RFTs.Monty Python said:
My 340i came with S001s, but I'd never use them again. Once the tread at the rear dropped to~3mm, the grip fell off a cliff. I swapped to Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 and so far they've been great.
Thats good to know. Appreciate that. I have xdrive so maybe I'll fare slightly better for grip but I'll keep an eye on it and everythign I'm reading online and here suggests the goodyears are the way to go. Which also appears to be more cost effective too!smashy said:

Yep, the F1 AS3 are excellent, had them on my F31 and now G31 and never had an inclination to change to non RFTAlextodrive said:

I bought the alloys and tyres direct from and fitted by BMW dealer. Because those were the style I wanted, and the tyres were down to 3mm, it was just the cost of the alloys - I liked the style (398) and could not get them cheaper anywhere else.
I have not noticed, nor checked, any change in fuel efficiency, to be honest, I think that would be marginal if at all. I have not noticed any change in grip or traction, but I do not drive to the full limit. A slight reduction in tyre noise. As a point of note, I have been searching for all-seasons that are recommended for x-drive and run flat, but not found any. When these tyres come up for replacement, I shall look around to see what current tyres are available, but so far I am happy with the Goodyear EfficientGrips.
Note, if you are changing down to 18 inch alloys you'll need to make sure you get ones that can fit over the brakes on your car (you may have the larger M-sport brakes with blue calipers, given it's a 335D). You can get 400m style 18 inch alloys on eBay for 400ish that will fit fine.
The Bridgestones are crap, don't use them.
I have a set of the Goodyears sat in the garage for my F11 when the winters come off, heard so many good things about them being the best run flat so far that had to give them a try.
I would listen to what owners say who have tried lots of tyres, the differences are massive between them.

Seems like the Goodyears will be worth trying. I've had an initial cost from costco for Asymmetric 2's of £600 fitted for all 4 and I'm going to shop around to see what deals I can get over the next couple of months. Would be nice to get 3's if I can get them for a decent price.
I've done a fair share of track days with a litre sports bike, and was pretty confident in feeling how the tyres were performing dependant on the compound I was using, pressures and heat. I felt like I'd notice the performance of the tyres on my 435D and 330D, but I have to be honest, I've booted both cars about with very little left to give and not had much in the way of an opinion on the Bridgestone S001's they've both come with.
Will be fascinated to see if my opinion changes with fresh rubber and a change to the goodyears.

It is not the lack of grip so much with the Bridgestones, it is the noise and how bloody hard they ride. Will be fascinated to see if my opinion changes with fresh rubber and a change to the goodyears.

The have a really hard sidewall, they haven't really moved on their runflat construction from the early days, where as the others have improved considerably.
I have Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrical 5's on my 330i, non runflat, and they are great, I still think the Pilot Sports are a little more progressive in the way they let go at the back, but the Goodyears are a more comfy, quieter tyres and feel very similar.
I'm looking forward to trying the run flat version on my F11.
