Hi All,
I have just bought a Boxster S with the 19inch crab claw alloys and it will need a fresh set of front tyres soon. It is on Kuhmo's now but wondered what the best option would be for a good quality road tyre?
Is the michelin sport 2 more of a track day tyre or is that just the cup?

It has the 2's on the front at the moment and Kuhmo on the rear so will replace the rears too in time (they are brand new) I don't like mixed brands but have just got my tyre guy to order the 4S.
I have noticed that on lock when parking the car it seems to judder or skip, I had a 911 do this in the past and RSR engineering said it is just the treads skipping...any thoughts?

I ran Cups on my 911 track car and loved them but found them harsh on the road and not great in standing water.

I believe they call it the Akerman effect ..seems worse on different brands and cold weather seems a contributing factor. I would have thought Porsche could have designed to keep Ackerman correct, it is an invisible line from the steering points ideally converging exactly in the middle of the rear axle, the line should pass through the turning point and meet the steering arm....
It does explain it though.

I have done 120,000 miles on mine - all UK roads
First 20,000 on Goodyears - which were ACE
Now on Bridgestones - which I run all year round in all weather conditions + you have the added benefit of WHEEL rim protection lol
Goodyear F1 A2 also have rim protection. First 20,000 on Goodyears - which were ACE

My F1 fronts had done 30k miles with only 2mm wear when RPM did a health check at 48k miles.
Had them all round at 18k, rears replaced at 43k, fronts still good (down to 5mm now) at 53k.
Excellent grip. Tempted to try PS4S when all need changing together.

25k out of a set of rears is good going! How many miles did you get out of your brake discs ?My F1 fronts had done 30k miles with only 2mm wear when RPM did a health check at 48k miles.

Replaced 2 years ago rear (one tyre split in the middle) 5 years old Michelins with 3mm on them with Goodyear F1 A2, have good grip on the wet so happy to push, yet when there is standing water am more careful. Porsches are known to aqua plane.
I have had 8 Porsche’s , 3.2, 993, 996, 944s and Boxster etc. and never known them to aquaplane any more than anything else, yes, pilot cup sports on a wet track had to have some care but so would any car.Caddyshack said:
The Michelin 4s are on and it seems to have cured the jumping on tight turns.
Mine does this - thought there was something wrong with it lolDoes have factory 5mm spacers all round so thought that might be the reason - mp supersport tyres.
Where did you get the rears and how much?
