Progress being made - albeit slowed up by Ians illness at Track V Road
Car was finally paid for and dropped off for me at Track V Road just before Christmas. Whilst it was always the plan to just have the head done it made a lot of sense to have the whole engine looked at.
Couple of minor issues identified but they were very happy with what they found, cams showing zero wear, one crank shell showing minor scoring - the all important and notoriously weak finger followers are all in pretty much perfect condition - as this is one of the early Speed Six engines and therefore more prone to finger follower wear its clearly a sign of an engine that has been very well maintained / driven and that the engine was lucky enough to have decent followers fitted in the first place.
As the bottom end is absolutely perfectly OK it was sensible just to give the OK for a full top end rebuild, whilst the cams and followers looked perfect it seems crazy not to get them replaced, false economy not to,
Full chassis inspection has shown original powder coating is still all intact and zero sign of corrosion - good to know on a 19year old car but I'm having the heat shielding fitted that was not fitted to earlier cars.
Other jobs I'm having done are Track V Roads opening bonnet conversion, Andrew Hoile throttle body bearing upgrade, painted engine cover and possibly ceramic coated manifolds.
