2008 X5 4.8is vs 2008 Cayenne S 4.8?

The company car for the missus is going back, so we're looking for a daft family runabout, has to be V8 and petrol as a last roll of the ICE dice. Despite my insistence an RS6 would be better, she's not having anything that's not an SUV.
Anyone had both an E70 and Cayenne? I had an E53 X5 which was great at the time so I'm tempted by the E70, but have read that the 4.8i engine can be troublesome. I've seen two 60k-ish mileage examples of each with perfect histories...looking for long term reliability over a year, won't be covering many miles.

The X5 will probably last better long term than the cayenne, I saw a youtube channel with a salvage cayenne and he had many issues with sorting the engine etc. Worst issues for the 4.8i engine is coolant leaks and valve stem seals, but these are jobs that can be tackled and likely covered by the previous owners. Not too clued up on the engine though, we have the diesel. If budget permits however, try to find a 50i as they are slightly more reliable, better gearbox etc. Even an X5M is starting to come in at around £20k now. Alternative performance is the 50d diesel but again, higher budget and needs careful servicing as reports starting to appear about the timing chains on N57 engines.
All down to budget really! Only thing I would say is that the Cayenne drives better than the X5, but personally the X5 drives very well anyway for a car of its size, puts it on par with some generations of 5 series. I think only at the absolute limit the Cayenne may outperform. Also, old VAG electronics aren't the nicest at times, even despite BMW and its iDrive.

Plot thickens - I spoke to the seller of the Cayenne this morning and EML has come on, apparently because of a 'stretched' timing chain (I know this isn't what actually happens, but I'm quoting verbatim). He claims to be getting it sorted, I did a google and is certainly seems to happen to Cayennes.
Kinda put my off when the X5 is genuinely genuinely mint with flawless history. I do think the Cayenne's are somehow more 'special' still so going to take the weekend to ponder. Leaning to the X5 though, cheers for the comments.
