0-60 5.5ish (probably 300hp+) reliable(ish) 4 seater...£10k

Don't want a "cheap" anything ...I know you might get an m3 v8 for close to this price but not sure on what you would get..


Happy to go modified if its reliable etc...therefore am exploring imprezas but not sure I am inspired
E46 M3 is an obvious choice but I am just not sure about this one and already have an s54 car

Any thoughts?

Carlsson’s are rare but I seem to think they are all autos, so Turbo X if you want manual. Just check that they’ve had proper Haldex service though.

There are some Jaguar XFRs in that price bracket - 0-60 in 4.5 sec / 100 in about 9.5.

Given your user name a 335i, or 335d, should appeal - especially with a re-map!

I like the idea of a Jaguar XFR though - I didn't realise they were so affordable. Would make a great daily if mpg wasn't an issue!

I'm not a fan of the idea of autos normally but as this is a stop gap it's a good excuse to try one and it does open up some amazing engines.

The XFR had completely escaped me! I'd been looking at XKRs but the 5.0 seems to come ar a premium so the XFR seems a great way to get your hands on it...although realistically it looks like it will be over the 10k budget

There's also the CLK500 and you may be able to sneak a CLK63AMG in budget.

I liked my C55 which was bought to use as a 5 seat practical saloon. Spark plugs a bit more pricey. Cam cover can weep but not that costly to fix.

You won't get anywhere near a CLK63 for your budget, the CLK55 is the pick but finding a coupe is now getting harder but they're a sweet car as well as having a large lump of torque low down they just pull.

The 500 is okay but you'll always want the 55 but there is the rare 5.5 500 which puts out more bhp than the 55.

The SL55 AMG is a whole different kettle of fish especially in terms of maintenance (ask me how I know) they can be epic though.

But with your budget in mind i'd be looking at the E/CLS55 AMG they're more sensible in terms of maintenance but the performance is on a different level to the N/A C/CLK55 AMG
