Checking the plugs in my unmodified 4.0L Chim today and found that I have the standard NGK B7ECS. These looked clean and in good nick. However the previous owner has got rid of the dreaded plug extenders and fitted fancy leads with ceramic connectors. Since the extenders would have provided the resistance required to prevent EMI, should resistor plugs be used now? I'm not getting any strange electrical issues apart from the speedo over reading by 20% (standard wheels and tyres). Thoughts?

The biggest difference you'll notice will come from getting rid of those dreadful shrouded electrode number 7 plugs and replacing them with an extended electrode number 6.

Fit a set of BPR6ES or better still the iridium equivalent.

Hopefully the fancy leads have some resistance.

Definitely want to get rid of the shrouded plugs. Think I need resistor plugs. Will just have to take a chance and see if they work OK.
