Here’s my own European Union which I won’t be disbanding today or in the near future. In fact I think we need some representation from France!

I think you've managed to pick what each of these countries motor industries do (or did) so well

Saab: Somber, reliable, but also cool.

500: Small, makes you want to wear sunglasses, drink a lot of Espresso and smoke.

ALPINA D3BT: Normal car from a manufacturer 'breathed' on by a small tuning arm*.

Alfa: just so cool. Doesn't batter if it's broken, because nobody could be mad at such a car.

Morris: Good to drive between high hedgerows, at home in the 'home counties', or on the Isle of Wight. Lashings of ginger beer.

Now you just need something very 'French'. Long suspension travel, velour interior, and a cassette deck full of stuff like the Pet Shop Boys, or Wet Wet wet. A BX would do just right in with this lot.

  • ALPINA is technically a manufacturer in it's own right, but still.

This. On the French tip, my wife wants an old DS which will fit this perfectly.

Thank you. Its been with me the longest and is the one I love the most! Its a '72 GTJ running 2.0 nord period engine (with open trumpets for added aural pleasure!). Classic Alfa handling kit. I've put some Momo Vegas on since this picture. Its been in its current ratty guise for 18 months or so while I gather some funds to paint it properly which it fully deserves. Its no trailer queen and I put a couple of thousand on it every year, out in all weathers.
This tells the story quite well if you've got 5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2yhdU3DYYU&t=...

Love these (especially the Saab).

You need a “wafter” so I’d suggest a money pit like a Renault 25/Citroen CX/XM/Peugeot 505 representing France......

Nearly had a cheap 505 once, love the estate. However none of these get me going like a classic DS
