Fiesta ST vs i30N Fastback vs GT86 - most comfy?!

So it goes without saying I'm considering a car with a bit of driver engagement.. but given a minimum level of fun probably attained by all of the above, which is the most comfortable on broken roads and frugal on long motorway journeys? ST would be -2 just for the 17" wheels for that purpose. Likewise I wish there was a non-performance pack version of the hyundai so I could get smaller wheels.
Any other options? No, I can't afford an Alpine 110 :'(

I can tell you that a Fiesta ST will get on your tits comfort wise after a while. It will annoy your passengers (especially in the rear) way more though. It's fun while driving fast, not quite as fun while sitting in traffic or avoiding pot holes in town. Not sure about the others though.
I'm guessing you're talking about brand new cars here?
If so I've heard the fiesta has been toned down a bit so might be a bit less harsh ride. Bigger wheels usually equal stiff ride so the i30n on 19's would probably be the hardest.
Must add I haven't tried any of them though so just assumptions.

Mk8 Fiesta ST has a very different ride to the MK7 , personally I find mine comfy enough to consider European road trips and whilst I love the looks of the MK7 I couldn't live with the ride As said need to drive them all really
It took me ages to get a test drive in a Fiesta ST2 with the 17" wheels. All demo cars were either ST3s (with the standard 18" wheels) or ST2s with the 18" wheel upgrade.
Ford Winchester eventually got a car in, and the 17" wheels definitely had less of a harsh edge to the ride. I was about to order one when a divorce got in the way.

I own an i30N and test drove the Fiesta ST. Not too much in it but the i30N had the better quality ride (as long as you avoid the N suspension setting which will literally shatter your spine). I drove a GT86 years ago and remember the ride being fine but road noise being quite intrusive.

If you want comfort its got to be the focus st and trade off some of the fun. The fez ST (mk7) is plenty of fun and quick to boot but it does have a bit road noise on the motorways and the suspension is pretty firm and harsh on our broken roads. I've driven harsher though, Civic type R FN2 springs to mind (no pun intended)
Definetly not the GT86, although I love them and it would be my choice for fun on local roads, if not motorway cruises. The ride is hard and they aren't exactly quiet.
Try a 120i B48, non-m sport on 17s without run flats. They ride well and are a step above all three for interior quality / refinement. RWD dynamics aren't a patch on the GT86, but still fun and with a very tuneable engine.

When you say motorway miles how many you doing? the tank on the i30n is small. On the motorway depending on distance your mid to high 30's. click N mode or rev matching and it drops. I do 15 miles each way to work on the motorway currently. Get around 300 miles a tank and am just under 30 mpg - all around 65-75mph.
Comfort I find really good you have everything you need its a nice seating position again as per everyone N mode will loosen your fillings on a normal uk road so if you use N mode use N custom and change the suspension.
If your buying second hand what sort of age you looking at?
The 3 cars are all different imo as 1 is a small hatch, ones medium hatch and 1 is a coupe.
