Diesel estate advice

Im after something up to £4k. Any advice on Passat/Mondeo/C clas or anything else. I do around 8k a year so maybe a petrol would be better but I do like the torque in a derv.

The first on the list is the 2.5T Mondeo but they're hard to find & hold their money will for the high spec models.
