Taking bookmarks to a new machine
Discussion
Dear All
On Tuesday if all goes well, I should take delivery of my new all singing and dancing tower cased system.
I have been using an ASUS 17" gaming laptop for the past 5 years plus , so time for an update.
I shall be updating my backups from my laptop and installing them on to the new kit. Now, I habitually use Firefox, and over those 5 years I have managed to acquire a large number of bookmarks. These too, I wish to export onto my new machine.
Now, I did similar some years back, but I'm buggared if I can recall how . Can anyone advise as to what procedure I need to follow, or indeed to a resource which shows what to do?
As said, it's the Firefox browser.
Cheers

Firefox sync - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-...
Another way - close Firefox then copy the folder c:/users/youruserprofilename/appdata/roaming/mozilla/firefox to a USB drive.
When the new system is set up, install Firefox, close it and replace the above folder with the one you copied. This will restore your favourites, logons, addons, history etc.
To get there, open file explorer, click the blue PC to highlight "This PC" and overtype with %appdata% <enter> then find the Mozilla folder.

Click on Bookmarks

Select - Show All Bookmarks
Click on - Import and Backup dropdown pointer

Click on - Backup
You will see this in top left corner of the now visible box

Click on save at bottom right of same box

That file should have saved to your desktop as a .json file, now copy it to your laptop or a USB and install it from one of those to the new Firefox installation

Thanks all for the options and input. This sync thing seems intrigueing. Am I right in thinking I have to open a Firefox account,, and then sync with both machines on the network at the same time? Assuming all my bookmarks etc will export over, from my laptop and replicate on the new machine?
Is that roughly it?
Many thanks all.

They don't need to be online at the same time: sign up for an account, sync the data. Boot new machine, install FF and sign in. A few mins later, all done.Is that roughly it?
Many thanks all.
