Hoping someone can help as ive scoured the internet and can’t seem to find answer to a simple question?? I’m going to look at a car tomorrow (Audi S3) that is an import. (Dealer i formed me immediately as I queried reg date and year on plate different) he dealer is one I have bought many of my own cars from in the past and are very reliable but they don’t appear to be able to answer a couple of key questions?? Where was the car imported from?? I’ve done my own HPI check and it only confirms it’s import and dates of import and first reg in UK which is all consistent with what I’ve been told?? The other issue if that the sat nav system is reportedly in another language but they don’t know what language... I saw the car briefly and started engine and when selecting nav function screen just displays something along the lines of ‘sat nav data not compatible’. They have told me I need to take this in to consideration and is reflected in price as I would need to get this sorted myself?? What I don’t know is how easy/expensive this would be and IF it can be done at all as surely if it could the dealer would do this??? They told me this is why navigation has not been advertised on the car??? Really need some guidance / advice before I go any further with this?? Hopeful someone may be able to help!

Not sure about all the import stuff, but a few points for the Sat-Nav. A lot of cars now have Sat-Nav, my own daily driver included, but the maps need to be updated etc. For this reason, I always use the Sat-nav in my phone, it's always up to date and has traffic avoidance etc, Googemaps or Waze being the two I mostly use.

So, in very simple terms, just use your phone anyway, as it'll be better than what's in the car (I think much newer cars may have better and up to date traffic etc in their sysems).

In short, the nav issue wouldnt put me off. The import stuff? Well, if it's been done properly etc and you're happy with the car it wouldn't put me off either.

Hope that helps.
