Hey all!

Hope someone can help 😄

So I have a 1.6TDI - Blue motion VW Golf 2014 European (UK) model with 5 speed manual box - CLHA engine with start stop.

It's Just hit 90000 Miles and over the past 2 weeks there has been a very slight noise coming from what I though was the passenger front wheel , had the wheel and brakes off to check - but I couldn't pin it down.

Anyway it got much worse this week allowing me to pin it down to the gearbox, clutch in and the noise goes away completely - goes into gear fine, nice and smooth, no clunking - but once in gear a constant grinding that changes tone with how fast you are going - but like I say , dip the clutch and the noise completely goes away .

So I am thinking it's a bearing gone in the box - do you guys agree?

So I am going to split the box off next weekend to check and want to order the bearings ready - but I am struggling to get a 100% confirmation on the gearbox so I can make sure I get the right bearing kit - can anyone give me a pointer?

I have it up on the ramps now, and can't see anything on it at all except for the part number on top cover gasket.
Part number - 02a 301 215a.

Can anyone help confirm the gearbox code or bearing kit I need?

Thanks so much!

It sounds like a release bearing. Sorry I can't be more help, only came in here as I just bought my son a mk7 1.6TDI. Looking for some inspiration to make it look a bit sportier. Can you recommend any good golf forums based in the UK.
