Mrs Running Man’s Skoda Kodiaq

After 11 years and 3 Land Rovers (2 Freelander 2s and a Discovery Sport) we decided it was time for a change. Mrs RM’s stipulations were a raised driving position and 7 seats, i decreed that I would not entertain an MPV so it was either another DS or one of the Tiguan/Tarraco/Kodiaq trio as the Hyundai Santa Fe did not appeal due to the cheap interior.
No way would we have another Land Rover after all of the quality issues with the one we have just had so after looking at the VAG triplets the Kodiaq was decreed as the favourite. A job change means that Mrs RM has reduced her mileage so a petrol seemed the appropriate choice.
Delivery was on Friday and initial impressions are positive. Build quality feels much better than the Land Rover, lots of space and the 1.5 petrol is smooth, quiet and feels far more powerful than I expected. Mrs RM promptly went away for the weekend by train leaving me to clock up 200 miles and test the car properly. Roughly 40 mpg on the computer seems good, rides very comfortably and is eerily quiet.

Similarly, we’ve had Freelanders for the last decade, currently with a Freelander Metropolis which we bought new over 5 years ago.
None of the current LRs fit the bill. DS isn’t as well made, and feels cheap, the Evoque is way too small in the boot department, and the Discovery is too dear.
The Kodiaq is on our list and looks to be the sensible choice. The reviews are great, and it doesn’t try too hard to be something it’s not.
The current French offerings are surprisingly robust, but just waiting to see what the GLB Mercedes is like before the final decision.

I test drove one last year and I did really like it as the next step up from my 10-year-old Superb, though I decided against it as it just wasn't right for me. Think the test one has lots of boxes ticked and the 1.5 TSI petrol, so 150bhp I think, with the panoramic roof and the funky dashboard. I preferred the "Scout" spec one they had in the showroom, but the cost was immense.

Can only be the badge that stops there being more Kodiaqs on the road. Recently ordered one after researching all similar size / price cars and as an overall package the Kodiaq was the one that ticked the most boxes.
After years of BMW and Audi cars, we're on our 2nd Octavia vRS, and we love the Skoda build quality. Absolutely no issues.I really like the Kodiaq and would be tempted to go for the 240hp twin turbo diseasal vRS, but my wife doesn't want to change!

I think it's the same non metallic grey as our current Octavia.
We have ordered a 1.5 DSG in SE L spec, neither I nor the OH like full leather so the Edition was ruled out but the SE L has all we need
Will be coming from a Leon Cupra ST but do have a 650i and Tuscan for more fun drives but really looking forward to the Kodiaq arriving - think it will quickly become the "go to" car

That's interesting.I've also had many Audis, VW's, most with at least a few issues.
Three Skodas in the family now and not had a single issue yet.
I wonder if they use older VAG technology that's had faults ironed out?

I’m on the hunt for a lease/PCH on a 7 seater and seen a deal on the Kodiaq (1.5tsi DSG SE L) and similar deal on the Tarraco (1.5 tsi DSG, Evo Xcellence).
How’s the Kodiaq been for you? Any niggles or anything you wish it had?
What colour have you got, looks quite nice.
What made you rule out the Tarraco in your search?
