Good morning folks
Over the weekend I upgraded my desktop from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
However it seems that I lost my office packages such as Word excel and PowerPoint.
I remember when i originally installed them a few years ago I used a product key which I can't find now.
Please advise how I can get them back.
Thanks

Assuming you haven't been emailed the key, you should be able to contact customer support and they may be able to trace your key from your registration details: https://support.office.com/en-gb (there's a Get Support link at the bottom of the page, type missing key and then you'll see under 'Get More Help' there's live chat or call options).

If this isn't possible (or the key wasn't quite.....genuine wink ), you could either use the free online version of Office you get with an outlook.com account, Google docs or similar?

You won’t get it back if it is 2013 or later.
No key finder program works on later ones.

You should have a Microsoft login if it is 2013 or later though and you can install it from that login page.

Hi Folks

Thanks for your help. I contacted microsoft customer services but they were unable to help and I csn't find the product key from when I initially installed them.

Therefore I have decided to purchase office 365. Do you think that is a good idea? Thanks

Assume the free web version wouldn’t work for you? Either Microsoft, google or otherwise?

It all depends on whether you get any value from O365 or not.
  • How many products/programs from the Office suite do you actually use?
  • How often do you in fact use them?
For 'most' home use people don't need it, and any number of the free offerings are more than sufficient e.g. Office Online, W10 App Store 'Office Apps', Google Docs (& Sheets etc), LibreOffice, WPS, OpenOffice etc etc etc
There are loads of options if you don't have a use case necessitating an ongoing O365 subscription.
