My TV is definitely not 4k, in fact it's only 720p biggrin

Is there any good reason to spend an extra tenner on the 4k version of the Firestick? eg, is it any faster to use ?

Yes it has a better processor. I run the 4k one on my non 4k telly.

I might look at that then, for the sake of a tenner. Thanks smile

Night and day the difference is, well worth the £10. Processor speed make the 4k version it livable unlike the original.

The normal stick is bog slow, I got fed up using mine.
Get the 4K stick as the processing power makes it useable for normal use.
Personally though these days I just stream to a Chromecast from my phone or tablet.

You can also link the 4k Firestick to an echo and use the echo as a speaker through the Home Theatre feature, which you can't do with the regular Firestick.

Thanks. I didn't know that. Will try it.

Thanks for this thread. That's another £49.99 gone that I didn't know I needed to spend!

To add...the 4k one comes with a better remote control too I think (certainly used to).

I think the regular Firestick comes with the better remote now.

I've had both and the 4k is definitely quicker to use. I'd recommend paying a bit for more for it too.

I notice it has memory... 8gb. Can you download to it incase there is no network. E.g. travel to other countries

I got my 4K for £24.99 on a Prime day, and sold the old one on FB marketplace for £25.

It's a lot quicker. Well worth spending the -1p. wink
