R1 Modifications
Discussion
Thanks for advice so far guys (& Gals)
Had the R1 3 weeks now, love it
Fitted
Carbon Hugger and Infill Panels
Akrpovic slip ons
Power Commander
New rear sprocket +2
ASV Levers
Ohlins Steering Damper
R&G frame sliders and cotton reels
Feels nice
Gone in for a service and check over as well as valve clearances
Just looking for some upgrading recommendations for summer that suit the R1
Still has standard brake lines, exup, standard rear shock and fork springs.
I know a few of you have had R1 5VY’s so interested to know what other Improvements
Have also read about cam chain tensioners

Give the calipers a really good clean up so they are working their best, and the suspension linkage as well. Being the age it is, you might want to fit replacement hoses - OEM will be more than good enough, but go for bling braided ones if you will (I did find fitting a set of braided lines to my FZ1 a right faff - they were HEL lines, and they came too long, I had to send them back to be shortened. I shan't bother in the future, I'll replace with OEM lines)
Otherewise, how about selling a kidney and getting some lightweight wheels - OZ racing, or BST?

Braided lines at least at the front.
Also found that brake and clutch lever can do with rotating down for comfort.
Otherwise leave it be. They're great bikes!

I love my R1s and have "R1" through me like a stick of rock. That's a lovely bike in the best colour, but seriously what is with those "tail tidies" that just leave the plate wobbling in the breeze. It's gash and ruins your bike Also found that brake and clutch lever can do with rotating down for comfort.

I agree with that one, my Z1000SX came with an aftermarket tail tidy, it was s
t, the plate used to wobble around everywhere then break, I replaced 2 until I bit the bullet and bought and refitted an oem one, I also no longer get s
t up when it rains and the rear of the bike stays a lot cleaner.Biker's Nemesis said:

Make yourself an appointment too. The lava red R1 does have an aftermarket tail tidy fitted.I do agree that a useless tail tidy that leaves your plate flailing about is about as much use as a chocolate teapot though

What I meant was that the aftermarket tidy looks a million times better than the plastic droopy cock that they usually have, which is bloody hideous.

I stand corrected in my orthopaedic shoes I do agree that a useless tail tidy that leaves your plate flailing about is about as much use as a chocolate teapot though
