Estate with space for 2 child seats and adult

I currently have a Mazda 6 estate and 1 toddler which uses a Joie Every Stage Fx. We have another child on the way and I am considering my options for a different car.
The Mazda 6 is too narrow at the back for an adult with the toddler seat and a group 0/1 rear facing seat. I can put the toddler seat at the front but it's chunky and not easy to move around, and I'd much rather have it all at the back and keep the front seat available for my mum or dad when I take them shopping.
Most of the recommendations suggest an MPV but am I wrong in saying there must surely be some estates that can accommodate this? I'm thinking Skoda Superb, 5 series tourer, etc. What have your experiences been with these cars?
Looking for petrol and budget 11k. I'm not set on changing the car yet but just keeping an open mind about options

Is the adult space in the back frequently needed - once a week etc?
We've got kids and had that joie car seat, so from experience have a think about how long you will have the car and what transitions the kids will go through in that time.
My life changed when one of our children was able to open the car door and hop into their own car seat!!
I'm a big fan of the Outlander, if you can squeeze the budget you would get the 2015.16 facelifted version. I gets you 2 pop up seats in the pop as well but IMO still has the width across the back seat.

We've had MPVs in the past having 3 kids.
Had 2 x XC90s and an Alhambra.
Test drove an S Max and really liked it but just thought they were a little expensive and I wanted the XC90 more

Hi EstateH!
We had this issue a year or so ago. Wife had an '09 A3 and she was able to squeeze in the back in-between our two Britax Romer seats, this was very handy when we took her mother on trips/weekends away. When we needed to replace her car I went out armed with a tape measure as the isofix points in the old A3 were quite wide apart (approx 46cm) turns out that is quite wide compared with most normal stuff! including the Skoda Superb which we looked at! I think side impact progression has meant keeping isofix points reasonably close together even in bigger cars.
My wife wasn't keen on a van sized mpv so in the end we test drove a 3 series GT which worked but at bit of a squeeze, a Skoda Yeti which will accommodate 3 in the back very well but boot space wasn't deep enough front to back and what we ended up with, which was a Toyota Verso. Now whilst this is a complete white good of a car, it was cheap for a 6 mth old '18 plate, easy to drive had a 5 year warranty and is a 1.6 petrol Toyota so should take carting a family around very well. I did point out that it is exactly what she didn't want (an mpv) bit the fact it is the smallest 7 seater you can get is what swung her, easy to see out of and a doddle to park. The back has 3 separate seats and I've sat in the back with our two for a good hour and half with plenty of space and no issues. The 1.6 won't pull the skin of rice pud but for the 7k or so miles pa she does it's perfect, (if a little PH soul destroying on occasions!)

The old shape Peugeot 308SW was one of very few (if not the only) estate car with three individual seats in the back, in an MPV type arrangement. Not sure about the new shape though. Perhaps consider the 5008 too, it's not overly MPV like.
